You lose all sense of time when you're immersed in the mad dash that is Chelsea. Barely six days in and most of the major hard landscaping is already in place — no small feat given the scale of what's here.
Every element has required extraordinary skill and patience — and a large crane, manoeuvred with precision around features already in place; especially The Brothers, our feature pine trees, brought safely from Belgium on the very first day of the build.
Boulders placed. Four by 2.5m concrete terrace pieces suctioned, as if by magic, into their numbered positions. The defining moment: a 9 by 2.5m canopy craned over our trees to land at two predetermined points with zero tolerance for error.
Our construction team have been magnificent. Guided by Dan — Greg, Lee, Lewis, Dom, Junior and Josh have worked from 7am through to the 8pm curfew with expertise, purpose and cheer. The pure physicality of what they are achieving every day is something to behold.
