The Floods series of photographic work explores the antithesis of the pastoral landscape, grounded in its Englishness.

The often overlooked, unnoticed or ignored wooded places that we pass by as we go about our lives; scruffy patches in the corner of fields, by the roadside, behind industrial estates, all remnants of a once heavily wooded and valued countryside – forming parts of the edgelands; land now abandoned with no perceived use being reclaimed by nature.

Notepad | Front Garden

Within a residential wooded area of the city; a moment of space and calm. The small front garden needed to maximise privacy, useable space and sculptural interest when viewed from the house. 

Yoga was high on the list of priorities; thus we created a mid-level lawn, framed with sawn york stone that sits amongst lush textural planting. Separation from car parking is strengthened using layered hedging and perennials. Two feature Pine trees anchor the space and create access to shade, whilst secondary pathways lead to an elegant water bowl which reflects the sky, and bench seating.
