James Burns and The Holy Grail

James Burns is London’s unofficial skyline photographer. Since the 1990s, he has been cycling across the city – exploring backstreets and housing estates, discovering each area’s unique culture.

This exploration eventually took him higher as he challenged himself to access harder-to-reach places, from the tops of tower blocks to private rooftops, establishing his photographic collection, London from the Rooftops. But beyond capturing high-rise and rooftop vistas, he is driven by a love of the city’s diverse musical culture. For his latest project, Concrete Sounds, he’s creating “a musical map of London”, layering some of the city’s most iconic tower block scenes with locally-inspired tunes.

Gruta House in Valladolid, Mexico by Salvador Román Hernández and Adela Mortéra Villarreal is a sculptural home that blurs the line between nature and architecture, evoking Yucatán’s ancient geology.

Gruta House emerges as a contemporary habitable sculpture, drawing its inspiration from the Yucatán Peninsula’s geological features—caves, cenotes, and grottoes. Far from a mere formal exercise, the project redefines the relationship between human habitation and the primal architecture of the earth, inviting a sensory journey through scale, light, and materiality. Intimate and public spaces alike are choreographed around elemental gestures: bodies of water, open patios, and sculptural vegetation.
